1. Preventive and Administrative Importance
• Transparency and Worker Awareness (1): Enables workers to review the injury summary and identify recurring hazards.
• Support for Official Investigations (2): Provides a documented reference during audits, inspections, and accident root-cause analysis.
• Research and Development (3): Data supports studies, statistics, and the development of more effective preventive measures.
• Monitoring and Analysis (4): Reveals injury and illness rates and trends, helping to measure safety performance.
2. Recording and Reporting Requirements
• Recordkeeping Scope (1): Applies OSHA 29 CFR Part 1904 requirements to covered establishments. Employers with 10 or fewer employees and certain low-hazard industries are typically exempt, while severe case reporting requirements still apply.
• Reporting Severe Cases (2): Work-related fatality within 8 hours. Inpatient hospitalization, amputation, or loss of an eye within 24 hours.
